Preparation

Before packing any electronic device, gather the necessary materials. You will need sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, and foam inserts or packing peanuts. If possible, use the original packaging for your electronics, as it is designed to protect them during transport.

Packing Televisions

1. Unplug and Clean: Start by unplugging the TV and cleaning the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. This step is crucial as it prevents scratches during the move.
2. Remove Accessories: Take off any detachable parts such as stands, cables, and remotes. Place these accessories in a separate, labeled bag to avoid misplacement.

4. Use a Box: If you have the original box, place the wrapped TV inside it. If not, find a box that closely fits the dimensions of the TV. Fill any gaps with packing peanuts or crumpled paper to prevent movement within the box.
5. Label the Box: Clearly label the box as “Fragile” and indicate which side should face up. This will help movers handle the box with care.

Packing Computers

1. Backup Data: Before moving a computer, ensure that all important data is backed up. This step is crucial in case of any unforeseen issues during the move.
2. Unplug and Disassemble: Disconnect all peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and external drives. Label the cables and components for easy reassembly.
3. Wrap Components: For desktops, wrap the CPU in bubble wrap, ensuring that the wrap covers all sides. For laptops, use a sleeve or padded case if available. Wrap the laptop in bubble wrap as well.
4. Use a Suitable Box: Place the wrapped computer components in a sturdy box. If you have the original packaging, use it. Fill any empty spaces with packing materials to prevent movement.
5. Secure the Accessories: Place all accessories, such as cables and peripherals, in a separate box or bag. Clearly label this container as well.
